Kirsty Baird started Sing in the City in 2010 with a group of singers that came from the council run ‘singing for fun classes’. Kirsty now has 1000 members that make up Sing in the City and to date the most she has had on stage at one time with Hanley and the Baird is around 350.
All her choirs are amazing and the sense of family and community within is heart warming. The Aw Blacks are the auditioned choir, so if you don’t have room for 350 they can break down to much smaller groups that you have space for. This was the group that performed at the Edinburgh Evening News Local Hero award in 2019. Kirsty Baird won the award for Arts and Music later on that evening.
